Honors College Students Participate in Albany’s Caribbean Festival

On Saturday, August 9, 2025, the Columbia County Sanctuary Movement hosted their 2nd annual Caribbean Festival at Jennings Landing in Albany. People from across the region came together to celebrate the rich Caribbean culture with food, art, and music. The festival highlighted the diversity and traditions of the Caribbean community. Students from the HVCC Honors College were delighted to be a part of the celebration by helping with set up, directing parking and serving as event greeters.

The Columbia County Sanctuary Movement (CCSM) organizes with immigrants and allies to collectively support, empower and defend diverse communities. They are a multilingual non-profit organization dedicated to providing holistic services, education and engaging members in campaigns for systemic change.
